Aird Cottage's features and facilities

THE LAYOUT

Aird Cottage was originally a 4-room cottage in which two families lived either side of a common front door and stair. The property was extended in the 1950's and today has:

Downstairs A traditional sitting room, kitchen and dining room, plus one double bedroom, one twin bedroom, and a bathroom with separate lavatory.

Stair The stair, while short, is narrow and steep, so care must be taken ascending and descending.

Upstairs Two twin attic bedrooms. Note - their size and combed ceilings make them more suited to one than two.

FACILITIES

There is an electric cooker, fridge with small freezer compartment, microwave oven; dish-washer, television, iron and a vacuum cleaner. The cottage is equipped with crockery, cutlery, glass and cooking utensils. 

The telephone accepts incoming calls but is restricted to local and 999 outgoing calls. Free wifi.

A washing machine and tumble drier are located in an outhouse beside the cottage.

HOT WATER

Hot water is provided by an immersion heater, which operates on the night (economy) rate. There is also a booster switch, which can be operated at any time.

HEATING

Sitting room - an electric heater and an open fire, which burns coal, logs or peat briquettes

Dining room - an electric convection heater

Downstairs bedrooms and attic landing - electric night storage heaters

BEDDING AND LINEN

There are duvets and pillows on all the beds. Blankets and quilts are also available.

BED LINEN IS NOT PROVIDED. Visitors must bring their own duvet covers, sheets, pillow cases, towels and tea cloths.

THE GARDEN

The garden, which extends to over an acre, balances managed lawns, shrubs and woodland with wild areas much loved by wildlife.

Steps lead down through a gate to the shore and a path leading around Badachro Bay.

Gates - The gates must always be closed as roaming cattle and/or sheep are always looking for the opportunity to get in.

Pets - One well-behaved dog is welcome
